Theft Prevention & Engraving
Big White Ski Resort recommends that all skiers and snowboarders lock up their equipment to help prevent theft or loss during their visit.
Lockable ski racks are available at all day lodges, including Happy Valley, Village Centre Mall, Black Forest, Ridge, and Gem Lake. Additional racks are available outside The Bullwheel, the Inn at Big White, and Chateau Big White.
Ski Key locks (which also work for snowboards) and Dakine cable locks are available for purchase at our retail locations, including Altitude and Rider in the Village Centre Mall.
If you’re not sure whether your gear was misplaced or stolen, contact the Activity Desk at resortservices@bigwhite.com or call 250-491-6111 to check the on-mountain Lost and Found. Submit a lost or found item here.
For added protection, you can have your equipment engraved at no charge at the on-mountain Community Police Office (CPO). Bring your gear and your driver’s license to the CPO, located in Whitefoot Lodge and accessed from the deck past the Cabin Kitchen + Bar. Your driver’s license number, which can be traced by police departments, will be engraved discreetly on your equipment.
You can also choose to have Ski Watch stickers applied to your gear to help deter theft. If you believe your equipment has been stolen, report it to the CPO. Volunteers will complete a theft or loss report and file it with the RCMP. A file number will be provided for insurance purposes.
The CPO is volunteer-run and open Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Services include equipment engraving and road safety support, such as providing reflectors for your jacket.
