Alpine Members' Impressions of Big White!
The Hall FamilyWe have been Alpine members for over 20 years and ski as a family with our boys (aged 9 & 11). The boys have skied since 2 years of age all over the Escarpment with two brief Mont Tremblant excursions. This was our first big mountain trip as a family and it was an absolute joy! We were shocked by the unlimited terrain & glades which added excitement for the entire family. Every run is edged by accessible tree skiing with options to explore to your comfort level and all trails lead back to the same mountain segment to aid in keeping families united. There are four main areas of the mountain allowing you to ski your preferred terrain or to focus on the premier snow conditions for the day. We were unable to ski 100% of the runs in spite of our eight days on the hill and left itching for more turns.
Off the hill the atmosphere is incredibly safe and has an active core village with everything you need to enjoy your time off the slopes. Food options on the mountain/village are varied and reasonable; we became creatures of habit for our daily lunch. The rentals were top notch and the staff eager to assist in ensuring everything is as desired. The kids were able to explore on their own in the evenings in a family-centric environment. Happy Valley has skating, tubing and other adventures for après ski or to enjoy on a lay day. It seems there were activities nightly for the entire family to enjoy: Ontario night (food & prizes), trivia night, etc. We spent two days on "Cruise the Blues" (think orienteering on skis) where Big White posts letters on each blue run and you collect them to uncover a phrase. At the end of the event not only have you completed a fun task and experienced more runs on the mountain than you may have otherwise, but you also get a free t-shirt and enter into prize draws.... everyone's a winner! We'll tell you, there were some amazing blue runs with serious pitches and moguls. We each found a new favourite. If you've not been to Big White yet it's time you went. We're surely headed back!

Big White hasn't missed a beat on designing and implementing the perfect family ski getaway experience. From the ski-in/ski-out lodging, to the range of children's programs, to the varied terrain available from each lift, Big White offers the perfect family experience. For my family, a visit to Big White in April was the perfect way to cap off a great season at Alpine!
