Want to learn how to become a ski instructor but not sure where to start? Then we have the program for you!

If you are age 14 to 18 as of the start date and a strong parallel skier who can ski at a controlled speed down a blue run then this program is an opportunity to realize your dream of becoming a ski instructor! Being a former participant of the Ski & Board School Free Ride program, Big White Freestyle team or Big White Ski Club is a bonus but not a requirement.

This consecutive nine (9) week program runs concurrently with our Free Ride Program. The program will provide the participants with the opportunity for hands-on experience, helping our instructors organize children in the mornings, shadowing our instructors’ teaching, helping with lunch, and learning about snow policies and procedures. Then each afternoon, the participants attend our structured training program where one of our trainers (CSIA Level 1 Course Conductor) introduces them to the CSIA's innovative, effective skiing techniques and teaching methods.

Program Requirements

14 to 18 as of the start date
Are a strong parallel skier on a blue run.
Must have a valid lift ticket.
Helmets are required.
Participants can only miss one (1) day out of the nine (9) scheduled days, plus they have to attend the CSIA Level 1 course at Big White in 2024.

Please note: the program must have a minimum of three (3) participants enrolled by November 30, 2023, to proceed.

Lunch in the KC
Level 1 course
Nine (9) mornings (9:00am-12:30pm) helping organize children, shadow a KC instructor teaching a class, and learning off-snow procedures; with the following training emphasis:
- Weeks 1-3 – Teaching Beginner Skiers
- Weeks 4-6 – Teaching Novice Skiers
- Weeks 7-9 – Teaching Intermediate Skiers
Nine (9) afternoons (1:00pm-3:30pm), skiing with one of our trainers as they introduce them to the CSIA's innovative, effective skiing techniques and teaching methods.
Attendance in CSIA Level 1 Course (3 days, Friday, March 22, Saturday, March 23 & Sunday, March 24, 2024)
