Okanagan Triathlon Team has Success in Tune-Up Races Prior to BC Summer Games

The young triathletes that will be representing the Thompson Okanagan Region at the upcoming BC Summer Games had a chance to try on their new uniforms provided by Big White Ski Resort and participate in a tune up race held on Saturday, July 14th in Penticton. The Boston Pizza Triathlon had close to 300 participants and in the girls 14 – 15 years old division members of the Thompson Okanagan Team took first and second place. Kassidy Todd finished first, completing the 500 metre swim, 10 kilometre bike ride and 4 kilometre run in a time of 45:46, while Mackenzie Lawrence came in second with a time of 47:27.
In the boys 14-15 year old division, Noah Beglaw of the Thomson Okanagan team completed the course in 40:22 to finish second overall.
Additionally, team member Kelty Slaney won the 5 kilometre race in the women’s division of the Dirty Feet cross country running race series held at Kalamalka Provincial Park in Vernon on Sunday, July 15th.
