2024 Bike Park Trail Improvements
Whether you’re sending it big like a pro or just getting started on the greens, we’ve got fresh features and trail tweaks that are guaranteed to amp up your ride. Ready to check out what’s in store the next time you come and ride Big White? Here’s the scoop on the new stoke we've been brewing up:
Completion of The Joker Rebuild
We are excited to announce the completion of the comprehensive reshaping of The Joker trail. Our Trail Crew has crafted a new design that emphasizes speed and safety, offering progressive landings that cater to a broad range of riders. The reimagined trail now features exciting new wood elements at the start, followed by impressive jumps and a dynamic hip feature, culminating in a boosty three-pack. We are confident this trail has something for everyone who likes jumps and going fast!
Stacked Deck Insta360 Wallride
This season, the Stacked Deck trail underwent a significant transformation with the introduction of "The Grizzly," an expansive wooden berm designed to tackle a persistently wet area. This progressive feature allows riders to start low and gradually work their way up, making it both challenging and accessible. The surrounding berms have also been updated, with additional enhancements on the way. We’re excited to see riders enjoying this new addition, which has quickly become a highlight of the trail. The feature is sponsored by our resort partner, Insta360 and is a fantastic feature for those Instagrammable moments.
Gecko Reshaping
In our ongoing efforts to improve trail accessibility, we've begun reshaping Gecko to create a more inviting intermediate route from the top of The Bullet to the Black Forest Hub. Previously, many intermediate riders opted for the green trail, Pry Bar, to navigate this section. Our goal is to encourage more riders to experience a flowy, progressive trail. We've already made substantial improvements to a third of Gecko, with more updates planned for the coming season. We invite you to check out the changes this weekend and look forward to unveiling the finished trail next year.
Squirt’s Reshaping
Squirt’s trail, originally a challenging blue trail for advanced riders, has been reshaped to better accommodate intermediate riders while addressing erosion concerns. We've completed work on approximately 200 metres of the trail, including a new entrance and several blue berms that enhance the trail's flow and sustainability. We’re particularly excited about upcoming changes to the lower traverse section, so stay tuned for more exciting updates.
New Section of Beginner Skills Park
To offer a fun and accessible experience for young riders and beginners, we’ve added a new section to the beginner skills park near Tube Town. This area features low-to-ground rollers, wooden walkways, and skinnies designed for skill progression. All elements are approachable from multiple angles, making it an ideal place to practice North Shore-style skills. During our annual Freeride Days, we discovered that this area also doubles as a fantastic dirt jib park for slopestyle riders!
Catapult Ranch Racecourse Changes
Catapult Ranch, our raw downhill racecourse, has seen several key improvements. We've rerouted some sections and added exciting new drops and gaps to challenge even the most seasoned racers. Additionally, we’ve opened the lower section of the course to the public, which was previously reserved for race weekends. We’re eager to host the BC Cup on this revamped course and anticipate an action-packed weekend of racing!
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates as we continue to develop and enhance our bike park into the summer of 2025. See you in the park!
