Impressive Results from Big White Racers FIS team
The first day of competition was also host to the Senior National Championships in Super G. First year U18 Moffat, starting in the 93rd position, put in a strong effort to finish 22nd overall - 3.96 seconds behind the leader. While the following day was also a Super G, the trio had some difficulty with the course for the first Super G race of the Jr Nationals and did not finish.
Moffat finished 14th overall out of 84 racers on Feb 26th in GS. Although he fell in his second run, he did manage to complete the two run race with a combined run 4.94 seconds behind the leader. Cumming and Bernard each unfortunately fell and did not finish the race.
The final day of competition in Slalom found Cumming laying down a strong performance to finish in 9th place in the ladies Slalom with a two run combined time of 1:48.23, 7.90 seconds behind the leader. Moffat had his best finish of the series with an 8th place result in the men's Slalom. He put down the 4th fastest time in the second run to finish with a two run time of 1:46.88, 4.18 seconds behind the leader.
"I'm really happy with the skiing of all our group. All three showed good speed and competitive results against an extremely fast field. It's reassuring to know that Ryan continues to prove to be among the fastest for his age in the country," said head coach Derek Trussler.
Next up for the Racers is the Keurig Cup at Red Mtn in Rossland, Mar 7-10.
