Outdoor crews all over the mountain have slowed down to a crawl this week with the snowfall so there is not a lot of progress to be reported. That being said the snow is disappearing fast as spring temperatures return and they should be hard at it next week.
To date Chateau Blanc has poured more concrete than all of last year. Check out the live webcam to watch the Chateau Blanc in progress.
The Big White millwright crew was busy doing safety inspections and non-destruct testing on the chairlift grips. The grip is the mechanical part that holds the chair itself on the cable.
The building management crew was busy deconstructing the washrooms at the Ridge Daylodge and now the crew is getting everything ready to rebuild the facility.
The weather did not stop our events crew from supporting the Fat Cats Children’s Festival in Kelowna. Although the skies looked ominous, the weather held off long enough for our Mascots to march in the parade while their tenders handed out lollipops and sticker to the masses. Fun was had by all on the beach at Waterfront Park with some games and activities at the Big White sponsored activities area. On Friday evening the stars shined brightly as the events crew hosted another talent laden Big White Idol on the Beach.
This weekend, June 14 and 15 will see the events crew in Kelowna again, from one end of the City, McCurdy Corner, to the other Downtown and Waterfront Park. On Saturday come to McCurdy Corner to see Pontiac cars from all over the Okanagan and from all decades. There will be lots to see and some great prizes for the entrants. On Sunday we will be busy. First we will be supporting the Boyd Autobody Father’s Day Show and Shine. The Show and Shine will be taking place downtown near The Sails. There will be food, live music, vintage and custom cars. We will also be at Waterfront Park for the Kelowna Smoke on the Water BBQ competition. Great food, live music and Fun will be the order of the day.
