| On May 1st, 2007, 6 members of the Big White Fire Department embarked on a 4051 km cycle across 5 provinces, from Big White Mountain in Kelowna, BC to Toronto, ON. The goal of the cycle is to help bring smiles to the faces of children with serious illnesses. All proceeds from the cycle will be donated to the Childrens Wish Foundation.
The participating cyclists are driven with a strong desire to prevent suffering in their communities. They are all thrilled at this opportunity to make a difference for children who deserve a little sunshine in their time of hardship.
During the past 9 months the Big White Fire Department has been fundraising by holding pancake breakfasts, BBQ's, hockey games, raffles and the first annual Fireman's Ball. To date they have raised $12 000 for this worthy cause, and have a goal to reach $50 000 by the time they finish in Toronto.
They have already received a bit of media attention and are anticipating quite a bit as they ride, but they NEED YOUR HELP. Please log on to their website at: www.cyclingforwishes.com and click on the "Donate" button. Follow the link to the Children's Wish Foundation website donation page that they have set up for the event and max out your credit cards!
