Big White Opens for Summer 2017!

Posted On: June 21, 2017 |
Grab your sunscreen and sunglasses - Big White Resort is officially opening for the summer season this weekend.

On Friday, June 23rd, be the first to visit the Village and try out Big White’s brand new pump track. Located in the heart of the Village, this mountain biking skills course is free to ride and features a series of rollers and berms designed to help bikers find their rhythm, push their speed, and practice cornering. It’s also perfect for little ones looking to build their confidence on two wheels.

On Saturday, June 24th, Bullet Chair will start spinning to take guests on a scenic chairlift ride to the top of the mountain for sightseeing in the alpine. Guests can experience a panoramic view of the Monashee mountain range and get a first-hand glimpse at the development of Bike Big White’s brand new bike trails, scheduled to open August 4th. There’s still plenty of snow to find up there – so be sure to wear water-resistant shoes and warm layers.

Down in the Village, the 3rd Annual Craft & Country Beer and Mountain Festival will be taking place Saturday through Sunday from 11:00am-5:00pm. This year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever, with more than 20 local breweries in attendance on the Saturday and a craft fair on the Sunday. This festival is an all-ages event with a kids fun zone running throughout the weekend and live music on the Village stage.

Also new this summer are our Big White Summer Bucket List passports, which will be available at the Village ticket office. Families can try their hand at the activities included on Canada’s partipACTION 150 national playlist, such as lassoing, horseshoe, and potato sack racing.

For those looking to grab a bite to eat, The Woods new outdoor patio will be open for lunch and afternoon drinks with a delicious BBQ menu and great selection of craft beers, local ciders, and BC wine. Clocktower Coffee Co. will also be open for coffee, lunch and treats – don’t pass up a fudgesicle! Other restaurants on the hill include: Globe Café and Tapas Bar offering breakfast, lunch and dinner; and Snowshoe Sam’s open for lunch, dinner and post-dinner drinks.

This summer Big White looks forward to more events, such as a Canada Day celebration at the top of Bullet Chair, the live at big white yoga retreat, the L’Alpe de Grand Blanc bike races, our Huckleberry festival, and a GEO hiking scavenger hunt in the alpine.
